Demand Punishment for Men Who Filmed Cat Being Torn Apart By Dogs

In Belfast, Ireland, three men taunted their dogs into ripping a cat to shreds — and caught it on film. They also abused four newborn puppies. Yet somehow, they’re not in jail.

In Belfast, three men — a father and two sons — admitted the fact that they’d allowed a pet cat to be torn to shreds by four dogs they’d trained to fight. Yet they were still permitted to walk free.

Unfortunately, the abuse wasn’t limited to this one incident. After police found a video of the gruesome incident, as well as a similar one involving the mutilation of a live badger, they searched the family’s property, only to find kennels full of dogs trained to fight.

There were also three tiny bull terrier puppies, only three weeks old, found abandoned under a heat lamp without their mother. Their tails had been recently chopped off, investigators said.

Thanks to new animal welfare laws in the region, the men could have received sentences in jail for two years. Instead, they’ll walk away with six-month suspended sentences — and not have to spend a single night behind bars. Meanwhile, the adult dogs, who have been trained to be vicious through no faults of their own, will be killed.

Belfast Police admitted to being “disappointed” in the trial result, but I think that’s an understatement. I’m furious, and I want action taken now.

Tell the Director of Public Prosecutions to review the case and prosecute these abusers to the maximum extent of the law.
