Boy am I struggling over here in Dubai with the technology that I brought with me. Now I can tell you in advance that a lot of this post is simply driven by the fact that the Mac Book isn’t up to the job in hand, but the other driver behind the post is just how poor the iPhone is turning out to be, but just how good it could be!!!

It is about time I sorted out my iPhone I reckon. It is still on a Jailbroken 1.0.2 so I am not even sure if I can take advantage of the current iJailBreakMobile?

If anyone has any experience of iJailBreakMobile 1.0 Released and/or suggestions as to what would be bext for my version please let me know.

I will be using iJailBreakMobile over the next couple of days probably as a friend here rang last night to say he was buying an iPhone and could I sort it out for him …..

I was excited when I got the iWoz book for Christmas, not because I was surprised as I had told Sands it would be a good book for her Mum to get me, but because I had wanted to read it for a long time.

Overall I thought it was a good book, but not as good as I had been led to believe and overall I was left feeling that it was all a bit superficial and dissapointing.

Things have been pretty slow on the old blg front recently I am afraid. I actually had good intentions of doing some reviews and stuff that I have lined up while I was over here but to say that thngs have got busy would be an understatement!

Yesterday was the first time we got to a grocery store to buy any food and cook it in the apartment (I have moved out of my friends apt and staying with a work colleague in another friends apartment on the Palm so that we can get more work done). I have yet to even get close to a store for any shopping and have not had a night out with the boys yet at all.

Watched Spider Man 3 and The Flying Scotsman on the flight over last Sunday.

Enjoyed Spider Man 3 but it felt a little ‘old’ as this was the 3rd one, and I thought it lost its way a little in the middle when he had the character change.

The Flying Scotsman on the other hand was excellent. A great ‘feel good’ movie with some great characters based on the true story of a cyclist striving against the odds. Well worth a watch.

As you know I am in Dubai at the moment, and to say that my typical day is different would be an understatement to say the least!! Here is a post I prepared before I left. Maybe I will post something on my typical day in Dubai, once I figure out what that is and find the time to do it. For now though this is how my life is when I am in Spain. It is somewhat ironic I know that the first paragraph mentions travel when I am actually away at the moment ……………

Got to Dubai OK. This time I flew from Almeria to Manchester and then direct to Dubai. This involved a 6+ hour wait in Manchester which has to be one of the most boring and poorly serviced airports in the world – at least Terminal 2 is. It was really really poor.

Anyway having got up at 7am Spainish time on the Sunday I arrived in the apartment in Dubai at 9am Monday (6am Spanish time). The apartment is still having a lot of work done on it, but at least is habitable and thanks to a neighbours ‘generosity’ WiFi access!!

Thought you might be interested in the news below that says that the latest iPhone update automatically enables IMAP on the iPhone if you use Gmail. Now I reckon most of you use IMAP anyway, but I know a few of you have had issues so I was wondering if this had effected you at all?

Announcement

Google is warning iPhone users that the latest software update for the Apple mobile (v.1.1.3) will change the way Gmail works on their phone.

I am off to Dubai on Sunday (20th) until the 31st. Hopefully it will be better all round this trip as I know what it is like now, have more work to do this time, and the office and accomodation are all set up so will have better Internet access.

Apart from the time zone difference it will be business as usual as far as I am concerned, maybe a little less time on IM and Skype.

The reason things have been a little hectic around here this last week is ……….. Saidi! She is the cat that we have just adopted. She is one of several that Sands has been ’sorting out’ with the sponsorship money that I raised. Not sure of her age, but she has had two sets of kittens, the last pretty recenty (don’t worry the kittens are all going off to a kitten sancturary soon), so she is a little older than Moreno and as you can see very similar indeed. Could even be his mother or sister.
