Just back from my second (very) short jog in two days. The 20km of last years seems a dim and distant past, and the concept of 40km seems somewhat challenging to say the least.
The latest plan is to run first thing in the morning as Sands is going to the gym now most days at 9.30am, and the cats are at their most playful, so I am meant to get up and run and be back at about the same time that Sands goes to the gym. That way the cats bless them don’t get left alone when they are at their most playful, and we can leave the roof open which is where they like to spend the early part of the day before it gets too warm.

It sometimes takes me a while to get round to things (more so lately it seems) but having posed the question If not an iPhone ….. sometime ago I eventually got round to picking up a Nokia N95 8GB in Dubai. To be honest like the idiot that I am I actually only got round to picking it up on the last day so I didn’t get to use it, but by then I was so fed up with the iPhone that I couldn’t hold off any longer!

Have just ordered a second graphics card for the Mac Pro! Why? Well when I was last in the UK I hooked up the MBP to a 32″ Flat Screen TV at Miglia with a DVI cable and to be honest it was a great quality! Ask Tom and Danny as they were there as well. It was more than adequate for browser, chat, email etc.
That got me thinking ……..
Then when I was in Dubai I hooked the MBP up to another 32″ although this time only through VGA and it was ok.

Watched The Doors last night for the first time, on the MacBook Pro with the screen mirrored to a 32″ flat screen TV. Unfortunately I could only connect via PC cable (not DVDI or HDMI) so it wasn’t the best quality, but for this film I don’t think that really mattered.
Shot very much in a ‘documentary’ style as if with a home movie camera a lot of the time, it was a really good film with some brilliant acting. It certainly captured the essence of that period (late ’60s) and told the story really well. The music of course was great, but the background to the group and various tracks was really interesting.

It is a while since I purchased my camera bag, and as you guys gave me such great advice I reckon that this review is long over due – sorry!!!
To recap, I went with the 7 Million Dollar Home from Crumpler at $128.50.
Shallow person that I am, the look of the bag had a huge influence in the eventual decision. I didn’t want to be carrying around what was obviously a camera bag, as I tend to carry a bag with me at all times, so I like my computer bag and camera bag to double up where necessary so that they need to look like a ‘normal’ bag as well!
Apple »
I spent the best part of two days earlier in the week in the UK ‘brainstorming’ with Danny, Tom and the team at Miglia possible applications for the iPhone.
It has been interesting to say the least! Partly because these guys make me feel so old, slow and technically incompetent, but mainly because while it seems at first thought that there must be loads of great application ideas that could be developed for the iPhone when you get down to it and discount those that it is reasonable to assume that Apple will include in V2.0, those that the ‘big boys’ will come out with, and those that would be ‘neat’ but would have a very limited commercial market, then there isn’t so much left.

Our router/modem is the original one that we got when we signed up with Telefonica. It has served us well, but recently it has struggled to reboot when the Internet has gone down and right now Sands has been without the Internet since I left on Monday night as the router needs a reset and all the details inputting again – either that or it has totally given up the ghost.
I was going to get a new router/modem in Dubai, so hopefully she can get it going agin for the next couple of weeks.

Apologies (again) for how quiet it has been. One reason is that I am trying to figure out the best direction for the blog, on the back of something that Mac asked me ………
He asked why I didn’t combine this blog with the Almerimar Life one as that blog also covers a lot of personal stuff. I am not that inclined to do that but it has got me thinking about how the two sites can best run side by side. Maybe less personal stuff on this site and get back to more reviews and in depth articles?
