Heading off to the airport again this afternoon!

Unlike last week I will be away a little longer than 18 hours, as I am heading over to Luton airport this evening. I will be staying in Hemel Hempstead tonight, and have a meeting in Hemel tomorrow morning regards the project that I am currently considering getting involved in. I then have a lunch with another company that want my views on blogging and the corporate world. I am then going to catch a train up to Stoke to spend an evening with my parents before heading over to Dublin for three nights.

Thanks to Don McAllister from ScreenCasts Online for pointing me in the direction of Screen Flow, the $99 ‘Professional Screencasting Studio’.

I have a requirement to show a web site that I designed in an environment where there will be no Internet access, and the site was built running a server side script and so won’t play on a computer normally.

Solution was fairly simple, create a screencast style video of the site, a walk through tour, that could be shown (on both a Mac and a PC) i.e. Quicktime format.

I am off to the UK tomorrow for a meeting. I will be catching the 1015 flight out of Almeria that gets into Gatwick at 1200. I have a meeting in the Sofitel hotel, and will stay there over night before catching the 0555 flight back, which gets me into Almeria at 0925.

I wont really have too much time to spare but if you are on either of the flights, staying at the Sofitel, or around Gatwick then maybe we will bump into each other and be able to grab a coffee or something.

The Art Of Black And White Photography ($44.95) looks at techniques for creating superb images in a digital workflow:

Over the last few years, most books on photography emphasized explaining the new breed of cameras and how to master the digital imaging workflow. In The Art of Black and White Photography Torsten Andreas Hoffmann takes a different approach, as he focuses on image composition and image capture, with an emphasis on the creative aspects of black and white photography, rather than on the digital workflow.

FoneLink (39.95€ for a single license) is a frustrating application to say the least!!!

I use it with my N95 to sync with my Mail (including To Do and Notes), iCal and Address Book. It does all that very well indeed with two exceptions:

  1. It hates recurring items!!! If you move or delete a recurring item in a particular week FoneLink still syncs it to your phone, and
  2. It is pretty unstable i.e. it often hangs while picking up the data on the Mac and as a result often creates duplicate entries and even at times removes all the groups from the Address application

Still no sign of a 3G iPhone over here in Almerimar. The last time I bothered to check they thought they may have them in September or October!!

In the meantime Sands is slowly getting to grips with my old iPhone but it has a tendency to just miss calls. It says it has a signal, but the phone doesn’t ring and the person making the call just gets the ‘phone not available’ recording. It is very sporadic and I know she isn’t the only one with this issue.

Just read four, somewhat different books, over the last couple of weeks as the summer binge continues!! We are in the middle of a exceptionally hot period at the moment. One consequence of that is that any activity based pastime (including eating!!!) needs to be done early or late, so during the day the siesta is king. This is very often a case of crashing with a book and the air conditioning on:

House Of Cards by Michael Dobbs. I remember the TV series of the trilogy but haven’t read the books. This was another ‘lucky dip’ book and I enjoyed it.

Have just done an interview with Eric from DEVON technologies for Tim’s show this weekend. He was telling me about some of the stuff that will be in 2.0:

“At the moment, DEVONtechnologies is heavily working on the long-promised version 2.0 of the DEVONthink product line. Quite a few features scheduled for 2.0 have already been delivered in 1.x such as Spotlight compatibility, but many other features that involved major changes of the database structure had been shifted until this major overhaul and are now taking shape. Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies, shares some information about what is coming with us.

Just received an alpha invite to 12seconds.tv (yes I do have a few to offer if you want to leave a comment!) SO far it looks pretty cool, and have been figuring out ways to use it over on Almerimar Life. You can read the ideas that we are working on there if you want!

If you are using 12seconds.tv let me know, add me as a friend or whatever it is that you do with it.
