I am not a huge Facebook user, but I have started looking at it again with a view to helping out with a 2009 project that I have in mind.
Anyway last night I came across the name of someone that I knew a long time ago, recognized the photo, so 100% sure it is them. Problem is that most of the time they were really boring, so I don’t want to add them as a friend straight away. Would like to take a look at some of their recent stuff on their Wall to see if they are still dull ……

Well the year end wouldn’t be the same without a quick look back at the favourite applications from the year!
This year of course there is the iPhone to consider, while on the Mac front I have reviewed far less applications than in previous years which is a combined result of a) getting a bit bored with the whole ‘review thing’ and b) actually using my Mac more to ‘do stuff’ and as such having less time or inclination to stray away from the applications that work for me.

Father got an iMac and mother a MacBook before Christmas. Not sure who had most fun with then though, Moreno during the unpacking, me setting them all up, or parents playing with them.
They already have a Mac mini and a PowerBook, and yesterday ordered a 1TB Time Machine and a 160GB AppleTV so father is going to be busy setting up his network, moving and tagging his content and basically calling on me for remote support no doubt!!! I even set them up with a Twitter account ….. pretty cool parents eh???

Due to a bit of a power surge on Christmas Eve I ended up with a corrupt iTunes Library!!! Pretty much all back to square one, just need to tag movies that are unwatched and resync with Apple TV, and re subscribe to podcasts.
Now that is the dilemma. At the moment it feels sort of liberated to have NO podcasts at all. So rather than just rush in and re subscribe to the original ones I am going to leave it blank for a while and take the opportunity to start afresh.

Has been an interesting last couple of days what with the Sky TV interview and setting up a new iMac and MacBook for my parents, but now I am going to shut down and concentrate on Christmas!
My parents are out picking up some stuff, Sands is finishing off the cake, and I am doing some last minute posting!!! After that I get to make the stuffing for the Turkey (pork & chestnut), prepare the pigs in their blankets (wrap bacon around the sausages), and prepare the veg. Then I get to eat some home made mince pies that my mum will be baking this afternoon.

I blogged about iPhone Modem before so thought I would let you know about the recent update:
We have launched today a new update to iPhoneModem – version 2.2.

- improved logging functionality
- new user Interface for the Windows helper application
- revised WiFi handling on Windows
- rewritten notification engine solving connection problems between iPhone and desktop on some scenarios
- better “Disconnect” functionality closing current WiFi connection and restoring previous settings.

I have my 3G iPhone ‘hacked’ as I need to use QIK on it a lot for the Almerimar Life site. The first generation iPhone that Sands uses used to be jailbroken when I had it as that was the only way that I could use it in Spain but we haven’t bothered with the fact that we can’t use them abroad with a different SIM card, basically as neither of us have been away since the summer!!

This makes so much sense to me!!!
‘Well you see, Norm, it’s like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.
This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

When is knowledge enough to be useful or enough to be dangerous?
I have been asking myself that more and more these days. As I flick through the RSS feeds for the umpteenth time that day seeing the same ‘news’ on multiple feeds, and I listen to Sky News doing their ‘all the news in 15 minutes every 15 minutes’ bit for the 6th time in a row I think I know what is going on. I have heard it so many times, read the headlines until I can quote them backwards and standing on my head (while drinking a glass of wine on a good day!!).
