I am not a huge fan of making a big deal of charity work/involvement/support, as it usually requires asking people for money, and it really is up to the individual what they do and don’t feel comfortable supporting.

However …… I have been a ’supporter’ of the ONE Organization for several years as I believe in what they are trying to do, and they ‘only’ really want people to take 5 minutes out of their day and lend their voice.

DEVONtechnologies, LLC releases the second public beta of version 2.0 of all editions of its information manager DEVONthink as well as of the smart note-keeper DEVONnote. The version 2.0 upgrade addresses a large number of feature requests from the active user community and modernizes almost every aspect of the applications. These public betas are still incomplete but the already existing functionality is stable enough for sharing with the public.

Things ($49.95) is a pretty cool application for keeping track of the ‘things’ you need, or want to do. The advantage that it has over a number of other GTD type applications is that it will sync between your Mac and iPhone/iPod Touch (although not across multiple Macs and your iPhone/iPod Touch yet), and is very easy to set up.

If PathFinder is a cult application in the Mac community, then Toast ($99.99 or $149.99 Pro) is truly iconic.

I have mentioned before how much I love Toast but with Toast 10 Pro they have certainly raised the bar even higher!

The latest version helps greatly enhance and extend Mac OSX and iLife applications with a broad range of additional capabilities for creating, sharing, and enjoying personal digital media content.

Read the recent Macworld article on the 10 ’standout’ Macs over the last 25 years with a combination of interest, envy and surprise.

As a Mac ‘veteran’ of 3 years my ownership goes back to the 17″ PowerBook (picked it up the day they announced the Intel deal), and has included over the years: 17″ PowerBook, 17″ MacBook Pro, MacBook, 2 x Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro, 1st and 2nd Genration iPhone (I include those because the Macworld article includes the iPhone as on of the 10 standouts.

When I first got a Mac I thought that the Finder was so much better than anything I had ever experienced on a Windows PC it never dawned on me to consider an alternative. Over the years Apple have fiddled a little with it (Cover Flow for example), but basically have left it well alone.

While this may well be OK for the majority of users, the more experienced Mac users have long bemoaned the lack of a more ‘powerful’ Finder substitute that would allow them to assign colours to labels, change the Font size, unlink the toolbar and sidebar, move stuff around easier etc.

Cats play a huge part in my life, whether it be our two adopted cats Moreno & Saidi or the project Sands has set up to help the stray cats in Almerimar.

Tehnology plays a huge part in my life, in particular the iPhone which I find myself using more and more as the days go by. I had the original iPhone as soon as it came out, and enjoyed the form factor etc but didn’t really use it. The 3G iPhone is a different story althogether, primarily because of the 3G and the Applications that are available, and I must admit the games.

I have always jailbroken my iPhone. With the first generation I had no choice as it was the only way that I was going to get it to work here in Spain, but jailbreaking it was a pretty complicated process that I remember filled me with a certain amount of dread at the time. I remember being particularly nervous upgrading from 1.0.1 to 2.0 and jailbreaking it, and did indeed run into some difficulties.

I am a big fan, and relatively big user, of Twitter, but I am still not sure that I get the point of it!!!

In many ways that may be the main attraction, it is just something that you do because you can rather than because you need to.

Throughout 2008 I have used Twitter for two very specific uses:

I have always been a big fan of the Mac mini, and still have one at the centre of my multi media set up, but was always disappointed that it wasn’t possible to run the Mac mini in dual screen mode.

Well it looks like rather than killing it of as many had predicted Apple are about to give the Mac mini long awaited dual screen capabilities if Apple Insider are to be believed:
