Driving down to Almerimar from the UK recently in the Toyota Prius Hybrid gave me an excellent opportunity to compare the inbuilt the Sat Nav system in the Toyota Prius Hybrid with the portable Garmin Zumo 550 and Garmin GTM 21 Traffic Receiver that I use primarily on the Harley Davidson Road King Classic.

I need to declare in advance that I absolutely love the Garmin Zumo 550 primarily for the following reasons:

• Easy To Keep Up To Date: just hook up to the Mac Book Pro and download the latest versions of the available Maps

If you buy a Toyota Prius Hybrid you better have, or develop, good bladder control!

Last May when I was back in the UK I was impressed with my parents new Toyota Prius Hybrid, so much so that I said:

Without a shadow of doubt I would buy one as and when we finally need to replace the old Jeep.

My parents recently drove down through France and Spain to stay with us here in Almerimar, and they arrived full of praises for the car. It also gave me the opportunity to drive the car, both locally and on a trip we took to Granada.

The last time I was in the UK I rode back on the Harley-Davidson Road King Classic. That was back in May this year, and while it wouldn’t be true to say that I had only just recovered, it would be to say that a combination of age, lack of fitness and far too long out of the saddle meant that it took me a little longer than usual.

I mentioned before that I wanted to add the Garmin Zumo 550 to the Road King Classic. Well having installed it last Friday and ridden down from Stoke to Portsmouth and then Santander to Almerimar this week I must say that it is great. It is beyond great actually, it has overnight become one of my all time favourite ‘gadgets’!

I had decided on the Garmin Zum0 550 as it is designed with the motorbike in mind, specifically controls on the left hand side and large! Additionally the touch screen is easy to operate with gloves on it is waterproof, and the provided mount is both secure and shock resistant.
