iPhone Blues

Still no sign of a 3G iPhone over here in Almerimar. The last time I bothered to check they thought they may have them in September or October!!

In the meantime Sands is slowly getting to grips with my old iPhone but it has a tendency to just miss calls. It says it has a signal, but the phone doesn’t ring and the person making the call just gets the ‘phone not available’ recording. It is very sporadic and I know she isn’t the only one with this issue.

Hopefully a upgrade and re hack will sort it out, but probably best to wait as it seems that just as the hack for 2.0.1 is out there is a 2.1 upgrade for the iPhone.

I got excited about the ability to use the iPhone as a 3G modem (for the two days that it was available on iTunes) and have read this article on tethering with interest! Hopefully by the time they do have the 3G here in Almerimar they will have a full hack so it will work with any SIM card (always useful when traveling) and there will be some slightly better tethering options than the above somewhat complicated hack.

I upgraded to a Nokia N95 8Gb a few days ago. It’s an amazing device I’m sure. I just hope I can get used to it. I have to admit, I prefer my old Sony Ericsson at the moment.

    Any tips and hints Chris?

    Apart from don’t lose it????

If you use QIK and leave the N95 scanning for a a WiFi network it will drain the battery pretty quickly, but that is normal I guess.

Syncing with the Mac isn’t great. I am still trying Fonelink, which is great when it works but has a few issues (review on the way)

Basically don’t think it is an iPhone. I know that sounds weird but it doesn’t have the interface etc etc.
