The welfare of primates in captivity is consistently poor, and it is still legal in the UK for pet shops to cruelly sell the animals.
Though there exists a breadth of research on the unsuitability of primates as pets, shockingly, as many as 43 pet shops across the UK are licensed to sell primates. Of these shops, many house the primates in unsuitable cages, give inconsistent advice on how to care for the animals, and do not verify the intentions of potential purchasers.
Boycott pet shops that sell primates to show support for the dismantling of the cruel primate pet trade!
Primates are intelligent and complicated creatures that require a very specialised environment to learn and thrive. The welfare of primates in captivity is consistently poor, and until legislation is passed to protect captive primates, misinformed pet shop employees and customers will continue to inadvertently harm these innocent creatures.
Pledge to avoid shopping at pet stores that inhumanely sell primates, and work to end the primate pet trade!
