Outdoor Wireless Speakers

Just bought a pair of Urban Speak outdoor wireless speakers from www.rimax.net for our roof top here in Almerimar, Spain.

Love them!

Usual set set up: base station, and battery or mains option on the speakers. They work as far as way as 20m (our roof not much bigger than that) and look like Darth Vedar! Bought them so that we could have the iPod/iPhone/iPad in the house out of the sun pumping out the content and place the speakers wherever it was shaded up on the roof.

Working a treat, very happy!

Headset Buddy

Picked up a couple of neat headset adapters recently from the aptly named Headset Buddy company, that specialise in adapters for your headsets. As such it is possible, and extremely easy, to use your existing headsets with your PC, Mac, iPhone, Mobile Phone, Home Phone, Office Phone etc.

Having recently embarked on a bit of a de cluttering project I am all for anything that means that I can use less for more.

Review of the Jawbone 2

I have a perfectly good Bluetooth Headset already, the Blue Ant Z9, that I really haven’t used all that much so why did I want another Bluetooth Headset, and why did I decide on the Jawbone 2?

Why Another Bluetooth Headset

A number of things have happend in the last couple of months:

1. I have pimped the Road King Classic and added the Garmin Zumo 550 which I use on the Harley and in the Jeep, so have been using a Bluetooth headset more to listen to the music and directions from the GPS. I have tried the Blue Ant Z9 for this and it is great BUT when it came to trying to make a phone call the wind and open faced helmet won!

Just read this list in The Times. Would like to point out that I have the LinkSys Wireless G and I agree it is great (you can see it here ), but I run it on the Mac so they are WRONG when they say it is PC only!!!

Power Support Crystal Jacket for iPhone 3G (Clear)

If you listen to the MacReviewCast you will know that I recently discussed with Tim the purchase of a case for the iPhone that I was planning. Fundamentally I am not a fan of cases for phones, in particular the iPhone as it is such a well designed device that I can’t really see the point of hiding it away in a case.

Nokia N95 8GB

It sometimes takes me a while to get round to things (more so lately it seems) but having posed the question If not an iPhone ….. sometime ago I eventually got round to picking up a Nokia N95 8GB in Dubai. To be honest like the idiot that I am I actually only got round to picking it up on the last day so I didn’t get to use it, but by then I was so fed up with the iPhone that I couldn’t hold off any longer!

My main gripes with the iPhone remain:

NVIDIA GF 7300 GT GRAPHICS UPG KIT-INT

Have just ordered a second graphics card for the Mac Pro! Why? Well when I was last in the UK I hooked up the MBP to a 32″ Flat Screen TV at Miglia with a DVI cable and to be honest it was a great quality! Ask Tom and Danny as they were there as well. It was more than adequate for browser, chat, email etc.

That got me thinking ……..

Then when I was in Dubai I hooked the MBP up to another 32″ although this time only through VGA and it was ok.

Time for a new Router

Our router/modem is the original one that we got when we signed up with Telefonica. It has served us well, but recently it has struggled to reboot when the Internet has gone down and right now Sands has been without the Internet since I left on Monday night as the router needs a reset and all the details inputting again – either that or it has totally given up the ghost.

I was going to get a new router/modem in Dubai, so hopefully she can get it going agin for the next couple of weeks.

Flip Ultra Video

In this day and age, information is king, and “unless you have video, it never happened� – as the saying goes. The Flip Video and Flip Video Ultra is to the camcorder what the point-and-shoot camera is to the DLSR. I don’t think it is designed to replace your current digital camcorder, but at roughly 4 inches by 2 inches, it is a fantastic product to carry “just in case.�

3 for the road from Miglia

Now I am travelling a bit more again I am taking a bit more interest in devices that are designed more for the mobile users than the guy that sits behind his Mac all day user i.e. me!
