Happy Birthday Sands XXX

Today is Sands Birthday, so happy birthday Sands XX

She was out with some girl friends yesterday, so today we are going to do nothing, a late brunch, then watch a movie or something, snack and then out for some racciones and a few drinks tonight!

On Saturday we have some friends round for a typically Spanish lunch, so will tweet some pics!

3 Cats and a Feather Duster

Spending half an hour in the morning with the 3 cats and Sands up on the roof is one of my best daily pleasures. We recently got them (the cats NOT Sands, although Sands does seem to like it!) a new feather duster to play with! Oscar as you would expect goes mad and is soon panting, Moreno is happy to step back and let him have the first play, but Saidi has surprised us by climbing the poles as well.

This is their favourite game at the moment!

iPhone Blues

Still no sign of a 3G iPhone over here in Almerimar. The last time I bothered to check they thought they may have them in September or October!!

In the meantime Sands is slowly getting to grips with my old iPhone but it has a tendency to just miss calls. It says it has a signal, but the phone doesn’t ring and the person making the call just gets the ‘phone not available’ recording. It is very sporadic and I know she isn’t the only one with this issue.

Current Technology Woes

Boy am I struggling over here in Dubai with the technology that I brought with me. Now I can tell you in advance that a lot of this post is simply driven by the fact that the Mac Book isn’t up to the job in hand, but the other driver behind the post is just how poor the iPhone is turning out to be, but just how good it could be!!!

First up the MacBook. I do love it a lot, but for what I need to do it really isn’t up to the task. That is not the fault of the MacBook of course but as I really need:

Christmas Plans

It is just about that time of year again, one of my least favourite it has to be said, although Sands is a pretty big fan! I think I am just permanently scarred from the over the top commercialism that Christmas has become in the UK.

I have become more accepting of Christmas since we lived in Spain as they have a much more down to earth approach to it. No over the top advertising from November onwards, no last minute shopping; they work up until lunch time on Christmas Eve, then have their main celebration at home in the evening with their family. Christmas Day is a relaxing day with no big fuss, and then back to work on the 26th. The main present day is the 6th january, know as Three Kings Day.

Thinking of a Wii

I have been thinking of getting a Wii for some time now and was wondering if anyone had any experience of one, and what games you would suggest.

They are pretty easy to get hold of here in Spain, but I may try and pick one up when I am in the UK. It will be a lot easier to discuss any games and accessories that way.

Obviously the fact that they are cool has a huge impact on the desire/decision as I am not a huge gamer at all. I never play games on the Mac or PC and have a PS2 that I haven’t used in over a year and a PSP that I probably couldn’t tell you when I last played it.

Sands Birthday

Today is Sands birthday! I am not allowed to say how old she is, but I will tell you that she looks great. Not just for her age, she just looks great full stop!

Am not sure if this is sad or not but we have sort of stopped giving each other presents ‘just because’ it is a birthday. Over recent years we have started to just give each other time, so today we will do exactly what Sands wants to do. Neither of us will spend time on the Mac’s!!
