Human Computer

This video is a copy of an 8mm film shot in the early 1960s to serve as a record of some work done in Mathematics by children at Shakespeare Hall, Greatfield High School. It illustrates how they became involved in Binary Numbers.

Screenium Review

My Mac set up has been pretty stable for a while now. By that I mean that I haven’t had the need or desire to add any new applications for many months now. The reason is pretty simple; what I have is doing the job that I need doing more than adequately, and I really can’t be bothered to change for changes sake. Incidentally this carries over to Snow Leopard as well, I just can’t be bothered to upgrade 5 Macs that are all working just fine!

3 Cats and a Feather Duster

Spending half an hour in the morning with the 3 cats and Sands up on the roof is one of my best daily pleasures. We recently got them (the cats NOT Sands, although Sands does seem to like it!) a new feather duster to play with! Oscar as you would expect goes mad and is soon panting, Moreno is happy to step back and let him have the first play, but Saidi has surprised us by climbing the poles as well.

This is their favourite game at the moment!

Moreno Teaching Oscar How To Open A Box

Has been a while since I posted anything to do with the cats, in fact it has been a while since I posted anything come to think of it!!! I have sort of extended my recent week off as it is so hot here at the moment and I am only really doing a couple of hpurs writing in the morning, then trying to do some exercise, get some sun, relax for the rest of the day.

The new Shii

OK this might not be to everyones taste, but it is funny!!!

It is a take on the Wii and is well worth a look!!!

VideoPier HD

If I had VideoPier HD (59€, 37€ for the SD version) back in January 2007 when I reviewed the Sony DCR-SR70 I would not have got to know Mac so well and he would not have been over to visit me in Spain last October.

On the other hand choosing a camcorder would have been a lot easier, but I think I would still have ended up with the JVC Everio because although it isn’t clear on the label it does in fact import directly to iMovie.

Mac in Almerimar

The person not the computer!!! Mac arrived on Wednesday and we are having a great time. Photos and news in due course. At the moment he is up in El Ejido with Sands so I am doing a few quick posts and some general stuff before we go down to the marina for lunch. Is a brief video from yesterday below:

Wirecast 3

Wirecast at $449 isn’t exactly cheap, but it comes from a good stable over at Flip4Mac, including one of my favourite applications ScreenFlow.

Wirecast is the most advanced live webcasting product available for your Mac or PC. You can stream multiple live video cameras, while dynamically mixing in other media (movies, images etc). Features such as Chroma Key (blue/green screen) and built-in titles merge seamlessly with Wirecast’s layering system, allowing you to create beautiful, professional webcasts.

Screen Flow

Thanks to Don McAllister from ScreenCasts Online for pointing me in the direction of Screen Flow, the $99 ‘Professional Screencasting Studio’.

I have a requirement to show a web site that I designed in an environment where there will be no Internet access, and the site was built running a server side script and so won’t play on a computer normally.

Solution was fairly simple, create a screencast style video of the site, a walk through tour, that could be shown (on both a Mac and a PC) i.e. Quicktime format.

12seconds.tv

Just received an alpha invite to 12seconds.tv (yes I do have a few to offer if you want to leave a comment!) SO far it looks pretty cool, and have been figuring out ways to use it over on Almerimar Life. You can read the ideas that we are working on there if you want!

If you are using 12seconds.tv let me know, add me as a friend or whatever it is that you do with it.

Flip Ultra Video

Wayne sent this in to share with you all. Thanks Wayne!!! As ever if you have anuthing that you want to share I will happily post it.

In this day and age, information is king, and “unless you have video, it never happened – as the saying goes. The Flip Video and Flip Video Ultra is to the camcorder what the point-and-shoot camera is to the DLSR. I don’t think it is designed to replace your current digital camcorder, but at roughly 4 inches by 2 inches, it is a fantastic product to carry “just in case.
