The EU Must Do More for Europe’s Homeless Animals

Citizens of European Union countries enjoy some of the highest standards of living around the world and enacted animal protection and welfare treaties to make sure companion animals enjoy the same high quality of life.

But sadly, European countries still host millions of homeless companion animals.

It’s clear that the laws and treaties currently in effect aren’t doing enough to protect companion animals from the needless pain and suffering of homelessness. It’s time for the European Commission to step in and enforce strong action to reduce the unacceptable number of homeless pets.

A group of concerned animal activists are calling for EU action, including developing data about countries’ shortcomings and investigating what can be done to change the situation on the ground. But it’s going to take a lot of voices to get EU officials to act.

Join the fight to protect Europe’s homeless and abandoned companion animals.
