I started this blog in 2006, originally as www.myapplestuff.com, a blog to chart my introduction to the world of Apple after my purchase of a Apple PowerBook (ironically purchased the week they announced the deal with Intel which led to the MacBook Pro etc).
The original blog included a lot of reviews of Mac and Mac related products, applications and accessories, and led to me being a regular contributor on a number of American based Podcasts.
All of these reviews are still on the site if you want to check out the archives, but many will obviously be out of date now!
For a while the blog supported the columns I wrote for a number of Newspapers, most notably my Telegraph Expat Column, and other media activities (Sky News, BBC Radio etc) where I commented regular on life as an expat through the blog Almerimar Life I set up to look at life in Spain through the eyes of an expat.
In recent years the blog has focussed more on the Re-homing and Transport project Sands and I have been running since 2008, ALStrays Re-homing and Transport, which re-homes cats from Spain to Germany and the UK, and transports rescue and pet cats and dogs between Spain, Germany, Belgium and the UK on a scheduled basis.
A sad fact of life is that if Video Killed The Radio Star, then Social Media has killed the Blog! Back in the day this blog generated great comments and discussions as people took the time to read whole articles and then express an opinion. Nowadays if it isn’t said in a headline of 140 characters then no way are people going to read it and as for a comment …. since when had hitting a Like Button been a well thought out and constructed comment.
Social Media has created a vast volume of mediocre to crap rubbish and a brain dead audience. I am as guilty as any of being a Social Media user, especially so in the past, but these days I tend to only use it to promote our ALStrays Project.
So for now I am not posting much on the blog at all. It will remain as a fond memory, a scrapbook of a previous life, and who knows one day I may start posting again but for now I am actually keeping a hand written journal!!!
