Following on from the post last week on the Miglia TVMax+ I wanted to point out a couple of very ‘Mac like’ adverts that they have produced and are available on their site.
No idea demonstrates really well the benefits of the hardware encoder over the software encoder.
Late gives the same message, in a briefer way and possibly slightly more humorous.
Both are well worth a watch, and both get the message of ease of use and time saving over really well.
For some reason, I thought that you were talking about the iPod style adverts, not the I’m-a-Mac-and-I’m-a-PC adverts, so these came as a pleasant surprise! 🙂
I agree about the first one – it seemed a bit laboured. I also didn’t like the way that the camera frequently shot the PC (oops – I mean the software encoder) from an angle, instead of square on. I did like the final throwaway comment from the hardware encoder in “Late” though! 😀
Maybe you have hit on something here – they may be a little “too British” in their humour?
I think people are going to be so sick of this style of advertising, that they’ll dismiss this ad completely. Personally I found it very hard to watch, with the “encoders” looking at a different camera while being filmed from a different angle. To many “ecoder this” “encoder that”…. half way I was lost. Sorry, but that was just plain rubish.
Now I can see that as well – advanatge of being so tall is that you can see over the fence so can see both sides 🙂
I tend to think though that the Mac community is so “into” all things Mac that they will lap this up. I hope so as Miglia are making real efforts to be creative and provide quality stuff for the Mac community.
I certainly wouldn’t do too many ads of this type though for the reasons you mention.
