Mr Verpoorten’s Mac Pro

I just received the pictures from Tim of his much discussed, highly anticipated and long overdue Mac Pro and dual screens.

Seems like everything is already up and running, and those dual screens just look they were made for that desk.

Congrats Tim – looking forward to hearing all about it next week.

If you want to see more of Tim’s set up you can see them on his SmugMug site

Very nice. The monitors are a great fit for the desk. Congrats Tim!

    Thanks Guys.
They do fit well don’t they. 🙂
I am still getting used to having the menubar on just the main screen and going back and forth to get into the menu for apps that I keep on my secondary screen.

I think that is just ‘early days’ syndrome 🙂 I find that more and more I move apps between the two screens when I get to work dual screen – like a real desk, I push stuff that I am working on but not at that precise moment away to one side so it is ‘at hand’ (right screen) and I pull the stuff I need to work on at that moment to be directly in front of me (left screen).

I will be really interested to see how it works out for you.

For anyone else with Tim’s ‘dilemma’ this link may help

Hey Tim – I use a Powerbook G4 and recently added a 21″ widescreen to provide dual monitor when I am at home – I found it took a while to get used to some aspects, in particular deciding which side the monitor felt most comfortable on. The menu bar issue still throws me at times but overall the ability to split out mail, ical address book and other utilities to one monitor while I work on a main app on the laptop screen is invaluable. Stick with it!!

I may get shot for this but I can guarantee 100% that Spaces and Dual Screen is a totally awesome experience!!!!!!!! Trust me – perfection 🙂

    @Chris
I’m curious how your fund is doing. Maybe you should advertise, that any donation will get your handle on the new Mac Pro.
    🙂

I’ve been fighting with mine over the last week. Decided finally to reinstall everything from scratch, and figure out why I’ve setup my 4 drives as seperate. Well after wiping everything off and thinking “RAID 5 here we come”, I realize that the Mac Pro does not support RAID 5. So I’m back into 4 drives realm and reinstalling everything back. Just great. 🙁

Slowly, but lots of small steps most days:

    – some much appreciated donations
    – a few new hosting contracts
    – more work locally
    – a couple of potential writing gigs
    – a possible buyer for one of the Mac mini’s

The biggest impact has come from the self-denial in terms of spending, or not as the case may be!!! It is going to be a long three months I think 🙁

I like that idea as you know of acknowledging people that help and am working on a idea (launch 1st August) that could work very well with that.
