Activating MobileMe License From Amazon
Just renewed the MobileMe through Amazon. Is great value, costing £40.59 for a single user or £52.98 for a family pack (up to 5 users). With my mother and father both using MobileMe (just the one account) to keep their bookmarks, address book, calendar, and some shared data synced between their 4 Macs, and Sands using her own MobileMe account on her iMac, MacBook and iPhone, and me using a MobileMe account between the iPhone, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro it was a no brainer really to a) renew and b) purcahse through Amazon.
Activating the license isn’t easy. Apart from the fact that you get a totally useless DVD when you purchase MobileMe (what is all that about? it is an online service so why add to the old carbon footprint with a totally unecessary box and DVD!!!) any attempt to activate online through your MobileMe account when accessed through System Preferences or me.com just assumes you are renewing directly through Apple. Frustrating to say the least, and I couldn’t help thinking that IF this was Microsoft people would be going mental over unfair practices, monopoly commissions etc.
As it is if you access http.//secure.me.com (or http//me.com/activate) you will get the following screen:

From here it is easy, copy your new code in and select the option that applies to you.
