RIP Saidi

Just had to say goodbye to Saidi.

There was no warning that anything was wrong. This morning she was on the bed as normal having a fuss, then mid morning Sands noticed her walking to the office as normal (for food and litter tray), but her head was on one side and she had no strength in her left side and was struggling to walk.

She was not in any real pain and she lay in my arms and had a huge purr and fuss while Sands rang the vet.

She had had a large stroke, and at her age there was nothing to be done, so we said our goodbyes and the vet let her slip away.

She was a tremendous cat. Sands first came across her when she started to help a neighbour feed the stray cats and she was both the start of Sands love affair with cats and the start of her re-homing project. She made a huge impact on us and thousands of cats that Sands has rehomed.

And of course she was Moreno’s mum …

She was always a little aloof from the others, but integrated OK and had her little patterns.

In Spain in her earlier years she loved the roof, and here in the UK it was so good these last few months to see her enjoying the sunshine in the garden and Sands knee of an evening.

Bedtime will never be the same as every night she jumped up for a fuss, and during the winter she slept on my chest.

Sleep well little one, you gave us so much and we will always treasure the time we had with you.
