I have, thankfully and by design, been very quiet on Twitter this week. That is not to say that Twitter has been quiet or that I have not been aware of what has been going on, but I have actually been busy this week!
Main activity has been chairing the panel to interview for the new Teacher in Charge (TiC) at MERIT Pru where I am Vice Chair of Governors. This has allowed me back into the school and to spend time with the amazing children and students, and provided a welcome break from the anger that just seems to dominate these days: “the interview”, Sarah Everard, NHS 1% Pay Rise, 72% of UK businesses saying Brexit has delayed then getting products, Kieron Pollard, sitting on dead horses, the list as ever is endless!
It is tempting, and I have done it, to look at the reaction and behaviour across Twitter and to suggest that the adults are behaving like children, but this week reminded me of just unfair that is to the children at Merit and the like. They exhibited a level of maturity and responsibility that was a credit to them, their parents and their teachers and a reminder to any adult that was fortunate to spend time with them.
For that I thank them, and because of them it has been a great week.
