iPhone OS 3 release delayed!

Post UPDATED! See Comments but basically it isn’t delayed at all LOL

Apple has announced that the latest version of its iPhone OS will be available from tomorrow, forcing iPhone users to twiddle their thumbs for a day longer than expected.

The update brings with it bunch of much-awaited features, including cut and paste, MMS and support for Bluetooth headphones. iPhone users have been chomping at the bit to get hold of the new release which was expected today.

The reasons for the delay aren’t clear. The fact that hacking group The iPhone Dev Team spent Tuesday evening demonstrating how to unlock the OS – allowing phones to be used on other networks – could have something to do with it, but more likely it’s a logistical issue. Either way, Apple aren’t saying anything.

There were some links floating around the internet to a direct image of the new OS, though the fact that they have swiftly disappeared would seem to indicate Apple is spending the day making some last-minute modifications to the OS before tomorrow’s release.

But one more day without MMS or stereo Bluetooth shouldn’t bother iPhone users, who’ll still be able to flaunt their new functionality before the weekend. (Via The Register)

The update is not delayed. Everyone is looking at the Apple Singapore website, where the update was always coming on the 18th due to the time zone. If you look at the Apple US website, it still says the 17th.

I can’t activate the phone!! it says it can’t access the itunes store. Seems apple can’t handle it since i’m not the only one getting the error.

it seems you need to close itunes and turn your iphone off, then plug the usb and it works.

Did that before but didn’t work. Did it again and it did, so I think may just have beena coincidence but definetly worth a try!

It is 16:14 and the 3.0 OS installed perfect on my iPod Touch. I am now streaming Pandora radio on my Motorola S805 Bluetooth headphones. Great work Apple.

Make sure you shutdown and then plug in and let iTunes start. Then click on your iPod Touch or iPhone icon and then check for updates. You will have to login to your account and it will download and install. Don’t do anything during the process.

    Good Luck

    Hi Chris
It works great. The only thing is the copy paste feature is going to take time to get figured out to copy a full line of info.

Really? I found that really easy. Just drag the buttons either top left or bottom right on the blue box.

Great how we all find things different to use etc
