Fruit or Veg?

Mac recently suggested that we picked a weekly subject and both took a photograph, posted it and let you guys comment on it.

I liked the idea as I need the motivation to get out with the camera more, and I like the idea that this will make me take a greater variety of pictures.

I was less enthralled with his first choice of subject though – Interesting Fruit or Vegetable. Taking pictures of food isn’t my favourite, and the choice of fruit and vegetables here is always limited (mostly fresh, locally grown – not many imports) but on the other hand it made me think!

“Here is my entry for this week. Unfortunately Kiwi is as strange you are going to get at this time of year. Yes I know pathetic. I figured I’ll try something different with the fruit…. like dunk it in water. Didn’t do a lot of editing as you can see from the original. A bit of cropping, sharpening, some level adjustment.”

I started wth something that I thought was more unusual in its original state, a purple aubergine, but was going to pretty difficult to be too creative with. I started off trying to show the colours in a variety of ways by slicing, chopping and dicing the aubergine. I was sort of happy with the result, but then sort of went a little crazy in photoshop.

So there you are, our first challenge – let us know what you think, and feel free to make suggestions as to future challenge subjects. I get to chose this week though and am currently tirn between Old and Action ……
