Bought myself a new cricket bat for my birthday last week, a Gray Nicolls Supernova 4 Star, Short Handle, 2.11, not that I have any attention of using it!
Bought it online of Morrant Cricket, who I can recommend highly.
I have no intention of using this bat, although I am getting tempted to try my hand playing again (more on that later), it is just a thing of such beauty I wanted to hang it the Summer House and look at it ….. OK a bit of shadow batting has been attempted, and sad as it sounds I do like to sit and hold it while watching the cricket …… ooh er missus as they say!
I was a Gray Nicolls man (well boy really) when I played, although my last bat was a Stuart Surridge Jumbo (think Viv Richards). I last played 32 years ago, but at the cricket last summer I would visit the Gray Nicolls booth where they were making and selling them.
To say they have developed since my first bat – an inherited Len Hutton Gradidge is an understatement!
I loved my Gray Nicolls (Regular, Scoop and Double Scoop), so to put it simply I couldn’t resist!!!
