I have gained 1 lb in the last week, but as I didn’t get to run for most of the week, and had a couple of larger than normal meals over the weekend I am pretty relaxed about it. After all it is the build up to Christmas!!! I am going to try and run more this week as I feel that whatever it was that was making me ill has finally gone (fingers crossed) and I want to try and get to the other side of Christmas weighing no more than I currently do!!
I will then have a ‘good’ few days before New Year, enjoy New Years eve and then go for it big time fitness and weight wise.

Good to see no big increase during the lay off the running.
My weight continues to sit at 210, no change despite healthy eating and running. Didn’t run over the weekend – just feel as if I’ve run out of steam. Still, end of term 4 days away and change to recharge batteries then.
I think that is the ‘issue’ – trying to kick start it when the body is in need of a rest. Hence the gradual activity level for next couple of weeks to prepare myself for the onslaught.
Am actually looking forward to it to be honest – got all kinds of good intentions!!!!
Sounds good. I have also been feeling a sense of pressure in terms of what I can do fitness/weight wise BY xmas. I don’t know why!! Daft really as there is so much to do leading up to the holidays whereas Jan always seems calmer. I even thought seriously about running after our xmas do last week at 11pm! Luckily I saw sense and stayed in the warm.
Is a little like trying to look good for your summer holiday – two weeks before you go!!!
I am definetly taking the longer term view and will use the blog to record and motivate!!!

Exactly!!
Went for a run tonight as I was feeling more perky at 9:30 and Pippa was hitting the sack early. Took the new shuffle (freebie with new Audible account) out. Brilliant bit of kit for running. I was not convinced when I head about how good this ‘new’ gadget would be for exercise but the clip is very strong and attached to the front of my running shorts without getting in the way at all. The button design is perfect for operating without looking.
I loaded it up with just my ‘Running’ playlist and set it to loop. brilliant.
I’ve got used to running with a 4th Gen, and a head torch for the 1mile stretch in the dark. I carry them both for the majority of the run. Tonight with a bright moon and no big ipod to carry it’s amazing how ‘free’ and unencumbered I felt. Sure this is more pyschological but felt good!
The Shuffle is perfect for running. Sands uses her Nano with Nike+ but I am a Shuffle person through and through.
have you tried Sands’ Nike+ ? Interesting concept, wondered if it is a useful system of more of a gimmick.
I usd it when I did the 20km run and it is really good – but the actual web site that you upload to and information is very limited. More of a gimmick than anything really useful. Think it needs to be hooked up with a heart monitor etc to be really useful.
On school holidays now so will be trying to get regular runs in place!
I have run a couple of times this week, but is a bit like trying to bail out the Titanic with a kids bucket and spade!
The plan is get through Xmas a¡with as little damage as possible, so will run as much as I can, and then hit Jan 1 with a vengance.
I am going to doa post each week in the New Year with that’s week target and update it daily!
