It may well be because I have been feeling ill for so long, but also the fact that it is winter (yes even here in Almerimar it gets a little chilly at night), and the fact that I am not really training that much at the moment have got me thinking about comfort foods.
I define comfort foods as those ‘go to’ foods that when all else fails, when you feel ill, when you are hung over, whatever the reason they just work everytime!
In no particular order then here are my top 5 comfort foods:
Shephards Pie
(Has to be said that anything with mash i.e. sausage and mash, fish pie comes very high on the list)
Cheese on toast, with HP Sauce
Soft Boiled Eggs with toast
(For those of you of my generation that will be toast cut up as soldiers!)
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Chicken Casserole
What do you turn to in time of need?
i hope you start feeling better! my comfort foods are pastas!
Funny never had anything like that. There are foods that I like more than others, but I would never call them comfort foods. Maybe that’s why I look as I do…. 🙂
Chicken Casserole and dumplings, chicken pesto and chips with mayo! Now my stomach is really rumbling.
Pasta – nice, but too heavy in the circumstances
Dumplings – now you are talking!!!!!!
thank goodness … I seem to have provided all but the mushroom soup, which funnily enough I WAS thinking of making tomorrow for supper!
In addition to the above
Anything with chips, pretty well any take-away food if it is quality (i.e. MacDonalds etc. only if desperate, though I’ve a story about when that happened to me) I work outside, so especially in the colder months the idea of tucking into something like a juicy half-pounder, or anything hot and meaty gives me comfort.
A good roast dinner, especially lamb with mint sauce and lovely roast spuds. mmmmmm!
About the only thing I can say I am lucky about regards my weight is that junk food has no appeal at all 🙂
Lamb and mint sauce on the other hand …………
