20% iPhones sold unlocked in France

Orange, the mobile phone company with the ‘rights’ to sell the iPhone in France have reported that 20% of those sold have been sold unlocked, with 48% of customers new to the network

Costing 399€ on a two year contract or 749€ without a contract, 30,000 units were sold within the first 5 days.

Apple really should start to take note of these type of numbers – selling the iPhone unlocked just makes so much sense, especially in Europe.
