8 Core MacPro has been announced. Basically it seems that all they did was change the processors in the original Mac Pro configuration adding an option of 2x 3Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeons. So I decided to go nuts and see how much a fully loaded 8-Core Mac Pro would be.
Here are the specs:
Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
16GB (8 x 2GB)
750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB, Stereo 3D (2 x dual-link DVI)
Apple Cinema HD Display (30″ flat panel)
Apple Cinema HD Display (30″ flat panel)
Two 16x SuperDrives
Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
Apple USB Modem
Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple wireless Mighty Mouse – U.S. English
Mac OS X – U.S. English
AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac Pro/Power Mac (w/or w/o Display) – Auto-enroll
All this Apple goodness for mere $16,074.00 Nice.
Ah, well then. I was about to say, Wow! Too much for me! But if you took away those displays… 🙂
Gulp!! Well at least I already have a Screen, Keyboard and Mouse – only another $15,000 or so to go then!!!!!
Just subtracting the 2 30″ Apple displays will lower the price by about $3600.
Frightening, when computers cost the same as a small car.
All that money and I bet it doesn’t even come with cup holders.
Reminds me of the old story from Customer Service days – where someone filled in a survey on their new computer saying the loved the coffee cup holder that ‘popped out’ at the top of the PC 🙂
If I won the lotto and actually bought one of those. I wouldn’t let anyone get within a half mile radius with any kind of liquid.
