Encore CS3 ($799 as part of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, Upgrade from $299) is packed with a rich set of creative tools for DVD and Blu-ray Disc authoring and SWF export to the web.
“Between Blu-ray Disc output and the ability to publish SWF content to the web with just one click, it’s now that much easier to get your work out there to a wide audience.”
Nate Gentner
Product manager, Adobe Encore
My Thoughts
As with all the Adobe products I have looked at, this is very much targeted at the professional end of the spectrum, so if your home produced content is good enough to stand up to the demanding scrutiny of professional quality production, this is a great application for you.
As I have come to expect the integration with Photoshop is amazing, and the workflow is intuitive and easy to follow. The design tools appear to be complete – but my skills soon ran out before their options did, and the quality of the output produced was better than anything I have ever produced before.
As far as personal home use goes it is too “Over The Top” for me, but that was pretty much always going to be the case. What I hadn’t appreciated though was the amount of ‘professional’ hints and tips I would pick up and find useful.
The more I look at the Adobe product range the more impressed I am, and the more inspired to develop my own skills – if only they could create the 48 hour day I may have a chance!
