Blood Diamond

Watched Blood Diamond last night. It must of been good as dispite still felling ill I managed to stay focussed on it for the whole 140 minutes, which is rare even when I am feeling well.

I like films that are based on history or a period of time and use a story to help eduacte you on the past. On that basis this did very well, with some good characters and excellent acting. Nice an emotional at the end in a ‘feel good’ way, it only had Sands turning her head to avoid the violence a couple of times.

Leonardo put in as good a performance as I have seen from him.

Well worth watching!

I haven’t seen Blood Diamond yet. OK, you needed to put a little Spoiler Alert! on that article. 😉 I’ll definitely check it out.

I too like films based on history and the like. One that really got to me that I thought was really, really powerful was a movie with Bruce Willis called Tears of the Sun. It’s about the violence in Nigeria. I think it was a very underrated movie.

    Feel better!

Whoah! Major spoiler! Good job I’ve seen it already…

But yes, great film, one of my new top favourites. I have quite a few friends from that part of the world, and they said that it was very well filmed and acted. The relationship between white and black is horrendously complex, and about as far away from the pure and simple “discrimination” most people assume is the case, as you can get. In fact, as portrayed in the film to a certain extent, tribal racism is the most vicious of all.

Wayne – agree, Tears of the Sun was a seriously underrated flick. I enjoyed it.

Too late – good thing I’m not too bothered in this case! 🙂

I’ll add another vote in favour of Tears Of The Sun – an excellent movie.

Funny, I fell asleep during it. Must have been really tired. My wife liked it though. 🙂 Tears of the Sun was good, but it’s one of these movies, that watching it once is enough.

It is a good film, though the violence is a bit too graphical ( I suppose in the context it does show how brutal that regime was).

@Mac – I rarely fall asleep during a movie, but it’s quite common for me to fall asleep shortly afterwards: not uncommonly while watching some of the extras. Last Thursday night I did this and didn’t wake up until about 4:30am Friday morning. Friday night into Saturday morning was better – then I woke up at about 2:30am. (Good thing this was a holiday weekend!) It’s always a struggle to waken up sufficiently to get myself up off the sofa, turn off the TV, DVD player, lights, etc and then get myself into bed. 😳

    And I thought I had issues 🙂

Looks like have to add Tears Of The Sun to the list then, thanks all!
