Bobby Charlton – The Manchester United Years is just about the perfect autobiography!
The guy is over 70, won everything there was to win in Football, has had a successful and constructive life after he retired and has a very unassuming way about him. A real gentleman (at least as far as we can tell/know) he is honest about his flaws and writes a very good book. For anyone of my generation, especially a Manchester United fan this is a great autobiography! His second volume The England Years will be published in October 2008 and I can’t wait for that!

Hey Chris, are you a United fan? Me too. I was born in Manchester, just down the road from Old Trafford. In a few weeks it will be 50 years since the Munich air disaster. I’m sure that it will be a poignant time for Sir Bobby. He is definitely one of the greatest ever England players as well as United’s. He is indeed a real gentleman (maybe that is why his career as a manager failed).
My late grandmother, a Northumbrian, knew the Charltons who were her neighbours!
Thanks for the book review, i’ll look out for it.
Yep have supported them since I can remember so 1970 really. Was ‘lucky’ enough to drink and work with George for several years in the late ’90’s early ’00’s.
Think you will enjoy the book.
There was no greater player than George. You must be well chuffed to have spent time with him.
It was an experience for sure!!!!
