Diary Of A Vegan Cricketer (Week Twenty Three)

C is for ………..charity games , a week with no cricket, started rehab again, and played some golf.

2024 Season Week Twenty Three: September 2nd – September 9th

September for me is all about winding down, spending more weekend time with family before the dark afternoons kick in, and playing charity games on Sunday’s. Well that is the theory!

This week I was scheduled to play for Wicket Whippets in Dunwich but the weather forecast was so poor that a four hour drive each way was simply not a realistic option, so I stayed at home, crashed on the sofa, watched the rain, and squeezed in a walk with Tito. Felt guilty, but did find a replacement to take my place.

Earlier in the week I played golf which continues to be a good indication of my increasing fitness and better movement. Still trying to get to grips with the new clubs and swing …. the good is much better, the bad is much better as well, and all the technology involved nowadays: Garmin Watch to track shots and score, and a range finder. It is a case of rememebering to use them rather than they being difficult to use, and I struggle a lot to keep the range finder still.

Had another Deep Tissue Massage on my main problem areas: glutes and shoulder neck which hurts. The downside of this is that the muscle that runs up from shoulder into the neck is what causes my migraines when it gets stressed, and the treatment is to stress it. This time as I wasn’t scheduled to play for 3 days I ‘went big’ which resulted in a migraine on Friday which meant we didn’t get to the Bears 1/4 Final and missed an excellent lesson in how not to conduct a run chase!

Quite week ahead: more rehab, couple games of golf, them a social game on Sunday promoting NBCC and helping one of our partners.
