Drinking Less

Dawned on me the other day that I am drinking a lot less these days.

Looking the photo below of our wine, whisky and gin ‘collection’ that may seem a strange conclusion to have come to, and for those that actually know me I suspect a few eyebrows have been raised.

But let me explain ……….

Wine, Gin & Whisky!

It is true (honest) that I consume a lot less alcohol than before, and certainly post our move back to the UK I have not got back into the Pub culture mush preferring to drink at home: a beer in the evening on a (rare) warm evening, wine with lunch on a Sunday, a Gin and Tonic on a Saturday evening, and whisky ….. well anytime really!!

But when I say I drink less I mean that I consume a much narrower range of drinks these days.

Alcohol is pretty much limited to wine (red more than white), Gin, Whisky, Ale and Lager, and of course Port.

Soft drinks are really water (still and sparkling ….. and tonic) and that is about it. I don’t drink fruit juice or milk as much as I used to, and while I have never been a large consumer of fizzy drinks, I never drink them apart from on the rare occasion that we have a Coke left over from a visitor.

No doubt this is a healthier intake, and I would like to say it has been a conscious decision, but it just seems that age and a revised lifestyle have led to this state of affairs naturally.
