I wanted to end the week sharing a picture with you that I received this week from a friend in the UK.
Sean started off as a ‘friend of a friend’, someone that I used to go riding with (Sports Motorbikes) on a Sunday. The initial friend faded away but Sean and I have remained friends. His family have stayed in our apartment in Spain several times when we have been in Florida, and when I do go back to the UK I try and see him.
A fireman and a Black cab driver Sean is a ‘salt of the earth’ guy, with tremendous family values and a very close and fun family.
So when I received the picture I was really happy for him as he had been after an old Ferrari for years. In fact this car used to belong to his friend who sold it in 1999, but Sean tracked it down on the internet as he has always wanted it and is now the proud owner.
The picture was taken at Silverstone during the 60th celebration of Ferrari, while trying to break the world record for road cars on the circuit, 386 cars took part and apparently it was quiet a sight seeing so many Ferraris and having one to take part in, according to Sean.
Well there you are – my feel good post to end the week. I am really happy for Sean – and without the power of the internet it is unlikely that his dreams would have been realised.
Nice, but I still would not fit into one 🙁
Really? Sands used to have a BMW Z3 in the UK and although a tight fit it was fun to drive.
Looks like Sands in the passenger seat! My first car was a 1970 Porsche, and we had a blast fitting around 6 kids in it with the targa top off! You can always fit when you want to!
Fit yes, drive no. I have a hard time getting into my brothers Mazda RX-8. My legs are too long.
6ft 4″ me – once tall, lean and mean, now just tall 🙁

One more time? I’m not quite sure where you are going with that one… Besides, it was a beater anyway, man I loved that car. 😉
Was one of this “English” things – just sounded a very cool phrase to ‘throw’ into the conversation!
Just got this from Sean which I thought was pretty cool:
Chris
In answer to one of your questions, a big yes, loads more fun as it’s something I can have fun in and include the family, mostly
Bethany as she is my little petrol head mate. I was worried as I waited so long for the car(about 20 years) that I thought It could really be past its sell by date, slow, bad breaks, shit to drive etc,but its none of these. It feels quick handles fantastic and sounds Fuggin brill !
Its by far and away much better than I ever thought I would own and turns heads when ever I go out, which the kids love (so do I ) and I,v even taught them about looking at your reflection in shop windows (twatish I know, but Hey, It makes me smile)
Don’t fall off to much, speak soon
Sean

And I thought my Yaris was a pretty decent first car!

OK. I’ll admit it. It was a 914. But hey, it still had the badge! 🙂
Chris, I had the pleasure of taking a ride in my brother in law’s brand new Ferrari F430 yesterday… An amazing bit of kit, and certainly something that I dont think I will ever aspire to ( unless I win the lottery ), but it was very pleasurable being taken for a spin in it.
Cheers
Sounds cool! I have to admit I had a Porche many years ago and it was pretty cool to have such a classy car!
