Seven (7) years ago today Kasper entered our lives. Found by friends of friends about 250km north of our place in Almerimar, he was about six weeks old, and tied by a piece of string to a gate at a market!
He was brought back to Almerimar so that we could foster him until he was old enough to be transported to the family that found him, in the UK …..
Needless to say that didn’t work out! Within days it was obvious that he had fallen in love with Dusky and had a best friend for life, and his level of activity was best suited to life with us.
We agreed to keep him and instead the family adopted a three legged cat that Sands had fostered and who had struggled to get fit after several operations. (Cheeky Boy is his name and he is the apple of his Dad’e eye, so it all worked out perfectly)
Kasper has a bit of an attitude. He can have a go at the other cats, but it is generally more as a result of being ignored or wanting the attention they are getting, and since we have moved to UK hs has calmed down a lot.
In Spain he was prone to nip over the fence (he is light, agile and fearless) and find a secluded spot to sleep, and he still does the same here, only this time in a shed with a cat flap which only he seems to use ….. he still has his own webcam to keep track of him!!!!
He is still very much a Daddy’s Boy. He will go to Sands if I am not around but in the evenings he comes down to sit on my knee, he sleeps between my legs at night, and he likes to sit on my knee when I am at my desk ….. and as you can see from the photo he likes to keep me company in the Summer House.
He has also blossomed since we came to the UK. Partly the extra space, partly the more frequent visitors but now when people are here he is mooching around, sitting on ‘his’ wall bed, or up on the beams keeping any eye on things.
And of course ….. he is still best mates with Dusky!
