The reason things have been a little hectic around here this last week is ……….. Saidi! She is the cat that we have just adopted. She is one of several that Sands has been ‘sorting out’ with the sponsorship money that I raised. Not sure of her age, but she has had two sets of kittens, the last pretty recenty (don’t worry the kittens are all going off to a kitten sancturary soon), so she is a little older than Moreno and as you can see very similar indeed. Could even be his mother or sister.
She has just been spayed, and had her blood tested, so along with the fairly recent birth she has basically had a pretty tough time. She is little, cute and very unassuming – except that she doesn’t want to play at all which is driving Mori nuts!!!
They had a really bad few days initially getting to know each other, but are pretty much fine now. She tends to growl and hiss at him when he wants to play, but they are pretty happy in each others company overall.
She has spent the week taking her tablets, eating, sleeping and cleaning herself, all of which are good signs.
Credit to Sands as she was really keen to take her in and has been brilliant with her and Mori. I was concerned that it would upset Mori and that it was unfair on the kittens, but as the vet said the kittens were fine and they are still with some of the other strays before they go to the sancturary (have to be able to catch them first) and Mori has shown no adverse signs it all looks good.
The real test may be next week as I am off to Dubai again leaving Sands with the two cats!!!
You can see more pictures of Saidi’s first week here, where you really will see how similar to Moreno she is.

I like this last sentence Chris, are you really letting the cats look after your wife? 😀
That is really funny – but also so very close to the truth!
Bit of a breakthrough last night. When I came to bed both cats were on the bed and stayed there last night. In fact as I type this on the iPhone I have just brought some tea back to bed for Sands who is reading a book and Saidi is on the bed dozing having got up earlier for her breakfast and Mori is sat here as well having had his 6.30am run around on the roof and play with me.
