I spent the best part of two days earlier in the week in the UK ‘brainstorming’ with Danny, Tom and the team at Miglia possible applications for the iPhone.
It has been interesting to say the least! Partly because these guys make me feel so old, slow and technically incompetent, but mainly because while it seems at first thought that there must be loads of great application ideas that could be developed for the iPhone when you get down to it and discount those that it is reasonable to assume that Apple will include in V2.0, those that the ‘big boys’ will come out with, and those that would be ‘neat’ but would have a very limited commercial market, then there isn’t so much left.
Add to that the limitations of the iPhone i.e. RAM, size, single application running, battery life etc. and it is certainly a challenge.
We came up with a couple of ideas that we are taking ‘to the next stage’, which I can’t share with you naturally, but I thought that I would see if anybody had any comments, suggestions, ideas, wish list etc that they would like to input?
I am not expecting developers to give away their potential apps of course, more for users to submit some ‘ideal world’ ideas that they would like to see developed.

You forgot to mention how limited we found the SDK to be, a number of ideas were shot down in flames due to its nature.
Its still going to be exciting though 🙂
I see. So, you won’t tell us your ideas, but you expect others to give you ideas.

It did come over a bit like that didn’t it!!
The fact is that I signed a NDA with Miglia for the stuff we discussed, so I wasn’t expecting a developer to share any specifics plans they may be working on, more an opportunity for a iPhone user to send in a wish list type idea that they personally would not be able to develop. Maybe we could get it developed on a % basis or something.
