Wow, the focus is on us guys here in Spain for once! I use Telefonica over here (well Movsistar which is their mobile carrier) so maybe we are in for a treat? Naturally as “your man in Spain” I will do all I can to find out what the story is here – heck I may even pop along and see if they want some advice 🙂
For interest (or not) – the mobile (cell) phone market has really taken off here in Spain over the last couple of years. When we first moved out it was somewhat slow, low tech and didn’t have the greatest coverage. Now it is up there with the best of them, and a lot of the younger people I know or see are really into the pictures, downloading, music “thing” – more so that I observed in the UK to be honest.
Gizmodo Spain’s got the scoop on a couple of upcoming meetings between Apple’s Job and Cesar Alierta, the big boy of international telecom giant Telefonica. Insiders say that besides swapping recipes, the two will discuss multimedia content, the secret ‘iPhone’, and whether Pedro Almodovar’s Volver will win anything this year.
The meetings won’t be until later this month or February, which is a notch against the iPhone being launched next week.
