Just read four, somewhat different books, over the last couple of weeks as the summer binge continues!! We are in the middle of a exceptionally hot period at the moment. One consequence of that is that any activity based pastime (including eating!!!) needs to be done early or late, so during the day the siesta is king. This is very often a case of crashing with a book and the air conditioning on:
House Of Cards by Michael Dobbs. I remember the TV series of the trilogy but haven’t read the books. This was another ‘lucky dip’ book and I enjoyed it.
The Insider by Piers Morgan. This has sat on a shelf for ages and neither of us can recall where it came from. As it is all about tabloid journalism it was sort of linked to the above book, and gave me some good hints for Almerimar Life *grin*. Actually I really enjoyed it, which was a surprise I did (and do) think Morgan is a idiot!
The House At Riverton by Kate Morton. Another of Sands books, this is fundamentally a old lady recalling the background and history to a tragedy when she was in service. I enjoyed it.
Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. My first Kate Atkinson book, fundamentally a ‘thriller’ that I enjoyed ….. good job as Sands has a lot more of her books!
