Playing Cricket Again: Part Four (Nets & Coaching)

I managed four (4) one on one net sessions at Penkridge Cricket Club before the season ended. I also joined the club (4796818) and joined Play Cricket, and icoachcricket.

It fees real!

This weekend two of us had our first net at YMCA North Staffordshire. £10 per hour per lane, maximum of 6 people per lane. Impressed. Good light, lots of space, good quality nets.

Batted better again. Working on grip, stance, head position and balance more than anything else, but my ball striking is better, I am getting into position better, my range of shots is expanding and it all feels more comfortable.

30 mins of batting was pretty tiring though!

Other thing I have done this weekend are the Safeguarding in Cricket and first online modules for my ECB Foundation Coaching Course. I have a days course on 1st November, followed by more online modules then a second days course on 15th November.

Initially I want to help coach the children at Penkridge Cricket Club, but would also like to see if any of the children at Merit and YMCA would like to get involved with a view to the having some friendly games.

Longer term I intend to take more badges, to at least Level 3. I suspect the Elite Level may be beyond me now …..

Best laid plans …… SOT being in Tier 2 has cancelled the YMCA nets until further notice and the same with Birmingham, the Edgbaston Members nets have been put on hold until further notice.
