Product Review: 2020 Kookaburra KC 3.0 White Grey Rubber Sole Cricket Shoes & 2020 Kookaburra KC 3.0 White Grey Cricket Spike Shoes

I know two pairs of cricket shoes but this time it is OK. Everyone has a pair of spikes and rubbers ….. don’t they?

I wanted to try the Kookaburra brand when I decided I was going to play again, and I seriously considered their bats, gloves and pads but at the end of the day Grey-Nicolls won the day.

I have always liked the minimalist look of the Kookaburra logo and the blend of white and grey attracted me, although I was tempted by a bright colour but felt that a tad too ‘flash’.

Needless to say cricket shoes have come along way since my day, firstly they used to be boots! My first pair were canvass, ankle high, leather soles with built in spikes a reinforced toe and you had to whiten them! By the time I stopped playing they had moved on a little: I recall a half spike pair of batting shoes (spikes only on front half). In fact it was this that made me think straight away that I would need a pair with spikes for batting and rubber for fielding, although that is patently not the case, but the rubber soles are for nets and indoor coaching, so a wise, sensible and practical decision for once.

As an aside I also went with Kookaburra for my on field clothing buying the Pro Player Range (what else) of Short Sleeved Shirt, Short Sleeved Slipover, Long Sleeve Sweater and Cricket Trousers. Very happy with them all, although I miss the chunky cricket sweaters of my youth and the trousers are long, very long. Unlike many they do come hemmed, but I suspect you will need to shorten them. I will get the club badge embroidered onto everything – another change from my day – just as I did with my helmet (well one of them!)

Oh, nearly forgot I bought one of these as well 2020 Kookaburra Pro 500 Grey Barrel Bag Size 60cm x 30cm x 30cm

My Review

You will either like the look of the shoes or you wont. I like them. Most importantly is that I am a size 10 and I bought a size 10 and they fit great, which is what you should expect but it is not always the case and remains the number one concern when buying online.

They are comfortable, no need to break them in – am I showing my age? – and provide a good, secure grip. In the nets and gym they have allowed good movement ie haven’t caught on the rubber mat, but as is the way these days no protection for the old pinkies so you may do a bit of hoping around!

Kookaburra KC 3.0 White Grey Cricket Spike Shoes

My Review

As above really with the difference being that the spikes are a good quality, provide good traction and do the job.

Both shoes have a good strong arch support, and I happily recommend them both.
