Product Review: Gray-Nicolls Fluro Players Spike Cricket Shoes and Gray-Nicolls Players Batting Cricket Shoes

Gray-Nicolls Cricket Shoes

The only reason that I no longer use the 2020 Kookaburra KC 3.0 White Grey Rubber Sole Cricket Shoes & 2020 Kookaburra KC 3.0 White Grey Cricket Spike Shoes is because it transpires that whilst I am a size 10 in shoes and boots, I need a 10.5 when it comes to Cricket Shoes. I can jog comfortable enough on a size 10 (and it appears bat on the nets) but when it comes to a things like running after a ball, or running between the wickets my toes do not like a 10, they need a 10.5, as they quickly let me know!

The Gray-Nicolls Fluro Players Spike Cricket Shoes and Gray-Nicolls Players Batting Cricket Shoes are a lot ‘louder’ than the Kookaburra, and the soles feel sturdier and more structured, with the spikes having a slightly different layout, with only two in the heel part (rather than 4) which is mote along the lines of the last pair I owned which were half spikes i.e. only had spikes in the front.

Standing they feel a little large, but on the pitch they are the right size and are very comfortable. Still struggling a little with how ‘flimsy’ the modern cricket shoe is (clue I guess is that they used to be called boots), so you are not going to get any protection, but other than that they do the job very well.

Update December 2021

After less than one season of not exactly tough use I am far from impressed with the ‘wear and tear’ on the Spikes.

They have split and cracked across the top and the glue on one heel is coming unstuck.
