RIP Oscar

Just had to say goodbye to Oscar. He was fifteen (15) had a great life and gave us so much joy. The weight loss I mentioned was apparently cancer in his throat which had spread into his glands.

He had been struggling to eat and had lost weight but he was very much himself in terms of being active and sitting on the sofa with us. He went to the vets a couple of weeks ago and his bloods showed some issues with his kidneys but nothing you wouldn’t expect in a 15 year old cat, and that he was fighting an infection.

He was booked in this morning to have some urine extracted and to check his mouth and teeth as this was a possible issue so we were not expecting to be told he had cancer, and we were expecting to have him home this evening!

The cancer was inoperable, chemo would at best have bought him a month so as he was already asleep by far the kindest thing was to let him go.

He was a brilliant cat who gave us so much joy and had a brilliant life. It is extremely sad that he has gone, but I have nothing but thanks for all that he gave us and I am thankful that he really didn’t suffer and was enjoying life right up until the end.

He spent what turned out to be his last night in front of the fire with his lifelong friend Moreno

RIP Oscar, you could not have been more loved, or given more joy. Thank You xx
