Traveling Again

Apologies (again) for how quiet it has been. One reason is that I am trying to figure out the best direction for the blog, on the back of something that Mac asked me ………

He asked why I didn’t combine this blog with the Almerimar Life one as that blog also covers a lot of personal stuff. I am not that inclined to do that but it has got me thinking about how the two sites can best run side by side. Maybe less personal stuff on this site and get back to more reviews and in depth articles?

Any suggestions?

In the meantime I am in the UK for a couple of days and will be meeting up with Tom and Danny later today, then it is off to Dubai for a couple of weeks, so if nothing else I will have time to do some serious thinking about the blogs.

Here are some thoughts for you…

    > how the two sites can best run side by side.

I’d guess that quite a few of your visitors (maybe the more “casual” visitors) are unaware that you have two blogs. Speaking for myself, I rarely visit your other site (sorry, but life’s too short 🙂 ) except when, for example, you point out something specific – like your recent triumphant treasure hunt. Otherwise, it’s a single Marshall blog that I visit. So I guess my question is, is thinking about them as a pair of sites really appropriate? To my mind, they’re pretty much unrelated (at least, as far as the content is concerned).

But you make personal observations and such which are related to the technical things, whether that be [hard|soft]ware reviews, gadget reviews, photography related articles and whatnot. And that would be different personal stuff from the sort of personal stuff I’d guess you might post at the other site.

I don’t come here just for the reviews/articles. I think it’s probably more for the discussions that your posts trigger (whether on-topic or off). It’s a place with a known bunch of regular posters and the occasional “outsider” 🙂 who will occasionally stick their head above the parapets.

Hmmm. I hope this has come across right. 🙂

    Came across just fine 🙂

Really a case of carry on as you are then but with a slightly better focus. I used to have a feedburner banner on each site under each post showing recent posts on the ‘other’ blog, maybe I should add that one back in.

    Thanks

The reason I suggested the merger, was that almerimarlife seemed to explode in activity, while chrismarshall seems to be really slowing down. so i thought that once in a while a technical article on almerimarlife will bring something different to the blog… the again i could totally off… 🙂

Technical stuff on AL with mess up the SEO stuff, and I can’t see any of the readers of that blog really been that interested to be honest ……

Not even if you wrote the technical articles en español ? 🙂

Especially not then as 90% of the blog readers are English people 🙂

Could be fun to try though …..

Wot, no Scots? (Or Irish or Welsh for that matter…)

If you began some regular Spanish articles, maybe you’d grow your following? I understand that Spanish is quite a popular language. Well, maybe not among British school kids, but you know what I mean… 🙂
