When I first purchased my Shrey helmet I took the view that I wouldn’t really need a Neck Guard and that if I did then I would buy one. One reason for selecting the Shrey helmet initially was that the Neck Guards were cheaper than the Masuri Stem Guard, although I did think that they looked a little “cheap”.
Anyway, having bought the Masuri Stem Guard I applied the principle I have used through most of my life: if you are going to rely on something “to do the job” you really need a back up!
Which is a somewhat flimsy excuse as to why I have two helmets I guess …. but heh who knew, you can use the Shrey Neck Guard on the Masuri ELINE Helmet!
Shrey Neck Guard 2.0
I like this Neck Guard. It actually feels a lot more substantial than the Masuri Stem Guard, and is a more structured fit, which has a plus (it means with my helmet I do not need the rather fiddly sizing strap at the back) and a negative (you can feel it on the back of your neck more than the Masuri).
The negative is not a huge issue, but bear in mind, along with the fact that it is a more enclosed guard so on a hot day, batting for a long time, you may feel the effects of this …… I doubt I will!
Personally I prefer the look of the Neck Guard, and although I wont be swapping them anytime soon I do like the fact that I have a back up for my Masuri Helmet (which is of a higher quality – and price- so will be my primary helmet)
